In an age of louder things, a return to silk, to silence, to the slow gesture. Yui Karou stands still for forty seconds — long enough for the light to remember her. Photographed by Lior Adán in the Atlas, three days after the spring rains. Styling by Imani Khoury.
There is a volume to silk that is not loud. It moves the way a sentence moves when read aloud — slowly, with a pause where you would expect a comma. We spent three days in the Atlas with Yui Karou, photographing the way her dress remembered the wind. Nothing in the suitcase was new. Everything in the suitcase was true. — Imani Khoury, Fashion Director.
