Hall South is a contemporary art space in Margate, England, programming nine seasons a year of work by artists you haven't quite heard of yet — and a few you have.
Hall South was opened in 2008 by three artists who could not find a space that would hang the kind of work they wanted to make. We do not take public money. We do not take corporate sponsorship.
We pay every artist a flat commission fee, sell editions through our own shop, and operate on the income of a thousand-strong membership scheme that costs £6 a month. Admission is, and always will be, free.
"This is the most quietly radical gallery in England right now — and it's at the end of a train line in Kent."— Frieze · Spring 2026
